Usa Swimming - Women In Coaching: Kerry Smith

Honestly, the best way to balance life and work is to get in a set schedule and then it becomes routine. The hardest part about being a coach is that set schedules rarely exist. Things often pop up and you just have to learn how to deal with it. How did your swimming and captain experiences at Penn State prepare you to coach? While I was at Penn State, we went through many changes and as a team had many challenges. Going into my freshman year the program was split. In August before we returned, we received an email from Bill letting us know that the programs would now be combined. With any coaching change, you run into challenges. That situation prepared me for what to expect (especially from a mens program).
